The Meaning and Vision Behind Vision Metta Designs
Welcome to Vision Metta Designs!
You may have discovered this page after meeting or speaking with me sometime since August 1, 2026—or perhaps one of our positive messages captured your attention and inspired you to learn more about the story behind it.
Vision Metta Designs was created to offer more than attractive T-shirts. Our purpose is to share meaningful, positive phrases that people can wear, remember, and put into practice in their daily lives. We want each design to help the wearer express what they believe while encouraging greater positivity, confidence, kindness, and purpose in themselves and others.
Building Our Vision
Our new webmaster, Udaya, is a college student from Nepal. When he heard about my vision for this project, he became excited about helping us bring it to life. He is now doing much of the important work required to build and strengthen our online presence.

We are preparing a collection of nearly 80 positive-phrase T-shirt designs. Many of these phrases have compelling stories explaining how they were created, what they mean, and how the wearer may use their message to remain positive, focused, and successful throughout daily life.

How the Designs Began
Many of our designs grew out of my personal experiences studying and teaching meditation. After moving to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, I began teaching meditation to others in 2006.
Over the years, certain words, phrases, and ideas became especially meaningful. They offered encouragement during difficult moments, inspired positive thinking, and helped people remember the values they wanted to practice each day.
Vision Metta Designs gives us a way to share these messages with a much wider community.
What Does “Metta” Mean?
“Metta” is commonly understood as loving-kindness. Its meaning also includes:
- Friendliness
- Benevolence
- Goodwill
- Kindness
- Amity and friendship
- A sense of mental and spiritual connection
- A sincere and active interest in the well-being of others
We believe these qualities represent unconditional love. That is why the word “Metta” is an essential part of our name.
Living the Spirit of Metta
Metta encourages us to become a source of well-being, encouragement, and safety for others. It asks us to extend kindness without demanding anything in return.
Human beings naturally want to protect and advance their own interests. However, when that instinct grows into a sincere desire to promote the happiness and well-being of others, our perspective begins to expand. We recognize that our welfare is connected to the welfare of the people and communities around us.
By supporting and uplifting others, we also enrich our own lives in one of the most meaningful ways possible.
